This Privacy Policy explains how the Murrieta Fire Cadets program ("MFR Cadets," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information in the MFR Cadets mobile app and website (the "Service"). The program serves youth cadets, many of whom are minors, so protecting personal information is a priority.
Who this is for: The Service is intended for enrolled cadets, their parents/guardians, and program advisors and administrators. Accounts are created and managed through the program; the app is not open to the general public.
Cadet details: birthdate (used to compute age and eligibility), and an emergency contact (name, relationship, phone).
Program activity: event RSVPs and attendance, training hours, qualifications and badges, GPA/report-card entries you choose to submit, PPE/gear assignments, muster tryout times, and form submissions (e.g., hours memos, resignations, workshop applications).
Messages: chat messages, photos, and files you send within the app.
Device tokens: a push-notification token so we can send you program notifications.
How We Use Information
To operate the program: scheduling, attendance, hours tracking, qualifications, gear, and communications.
To let advisors and admins support cadets and keep accurate records.
To send notifications about events, messages, and program updates.
To keep cadets safe, including reviewing reported messages.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
Children's Privacy & Guardian Consent
Because many cadets are under 18, a parent or guardian is asked to consent before a minor uses the app. Sensitive cadet details (such as birthdate and emergency contact) are restricted so that only the cadet and authorized program staff can view them. Parents/guardians may request to review, correct, or delete their cadet's information at any time by contacting the program (below).
Who Can See Your Information
Program advisors and admins can see roster and program records needed to run the program.
Other cadets can see limited information such as your name, profile photo, earned badges, and messages you post in shared chats.
Private events are visible only to the cadets selected for them plus program staff.
Data Storage & Security
Information is stored using Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) with access controls (row-level security) that limit who can read or change each record. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Data Retention & Deletion
We keep information for as long as a cadet is part of the program or as needed for program records. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my account, which removes your personal information and signs you out. Parents/guardians may also request deletion by contacting the program.
Your Choices
Edit your profile and emergency contact in the app at any time.
Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
Delete your account in the app, or contact us for help.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or program channels.
